I am Violet, a licensed marriage and family therapist. My pronouns are she/her. I grew up in the Charlottesville area and recently moved back after living in the Pacific Northwest for seven years. In 2015, I graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a Master of Arts in marriage, couple, and family therapy. I worked at a community mental health agency in Longview, Washington. In December of 2017, I started my first private practice in Astoria, Oregon. In the fall of 2019, I moved back to central Virginia. I enjoyed the beauty of the Oregon coast, but I am thrilled to be back in a place that sees the sun a little more often.

My approach is a combination of systems theory that is both trauma and neuroscience informed. When working with individuals and couples, I am always considering how the dynamics of your important relationships have influenced how you show up in the world. I also look at how systems impact the way we see ourselves and the damage this can cause. I often look at the intersections of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, class, and ability when working with clients to ensure that I am addressing the needs of my clients and how these needs might differ based on these identities. I am a health at every size (HAES) and sex positive therapist. I want you to feel supported and heard while being challenged to grow in the direction that you are seeking.

I have been where you are, looking through websites on the internet trying to find a therapist that will be a good match. Because of this, I take my role in your life very seriously. I understand how scary it can be to let a stranger see the most vulnerable parts of yourself and how rewarding it feels to observe growth and change as the result of working with a therapist.
